Bio
Ken Laszlo graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in spring 2012 with a BS in chemistry. While there he participated in undergraduate research with Dr. Facundo Fernández investigating cyclodextrins as mobility shift reagents in ion mobility – mass spectrometry (IM-MS).
Ken’s research with Prof. Bush has consisted of ion mobility, electron transfer dissociation (ETD), and Cation-to-Anion Proton Transfer Reactions (CAPTR), and his future interest lies in developing new analysis and bioanalytical tools to characterize biomolecule and biotherapeutics.
Research
- Cation to Anion Proton Transfer Reactions (CAPTR): Ken initiated several projects involving gas-phase proton transfer from multiply charged cation native-like protein ions to anions. We are exploring this technology for analytical purposes, as well as to study the gas-phase folding of denatured proteins. The latter set of experiments are being used to study the relationship between protein structure and gas-phase charge state.
- Electron Transfer Dissociation Mechanisms: In collaboration with the computational data provided by the TureÄŤek group, Ken investigated the structure of c and z fragment ions. Our research has shown that fragmentation pathways are dependent on reactive intermediate structures following electron transfer.
